Not only are the tourist destinations appealing, but their traditions and culture make foreign tourists feel the loss of visiting the island which is known as the island of the gods. However, it’s incomplete if you don’t participate in trying Balinese specialties.

If you go to Bali via the port of Gilimanuk, don’t forget to stop by this legendary Ayam Betutu, the taste is still very authentic from the past until now. Betutu chicken here is synonymous with spicy taste and strong spices. It is said that this Ayam Betutu stall is the first in Gilimanuk. Don’t choose the wrong shop.

2. Satay Lilit / Sate Lilit

If all this time you are familiar with satay with skewered meat, it is different from this one satay because the meat is not skewered but wrapped around it. The meat will be chopped first and seasoned with Balinese spices then wrapped around lemongrass or bamboo stalks. You will immediately fall in love with this food because of its soft and savory taste.

Lawar Kuwir or in Indonesian lawar entok is Balinese food with a mixture of vegetables and minced Entok meat specially mixed with Balinese spices. In general, lawar is processed using a mixture of pork but it turns out that you can also choose wild duck as an alternative. Don’t worry, because Lawar is guaranteed halal. You can try the Kuwir lawar recommended at Lawar Kuwir Pan Sinar. Located in downtown Denpasar, to be precise in Renon, close to the Bali People’s Struggle Monument.

4. Babi Guling

This food is one hundred percent not halal. Even so, this food is the main culinary destination for Balinese people. This menu is usually served with warm white rice with lawar, satay lilit and a small bowl of jukut ares, jukut ares is a vegetable soup made from young banana stems. If you want to taste the savory Babi Guling, you can try Babi Guling Candra rice in Denpasar. or Babi Guling Men Lari in Canggu. Actually there are many Warung babi Guling that you can try, but this stall is one of my recommendations.

5. Nasi Campur Ayam Bali

You can make this food an alternative menu if you don’t have much time to taste all of the foods above. This menu provides a variety of typical Balinese culinary delights on one plate. Wow! Interestingly, this menu always comes with a variety of side dishes. You can try Nasi Campur Ayam (Chicken) at Bu Oki Chicken Rice in Jimbaran. Prices are okay, portions are great!

 

6. Rujak Kuah Pindang Dan Rujak Bulung

This food is known for the fresh sensation that comes from the combination of seaweed and pindang soup (pindang sauce/soup) which immediately breaks in the mouth. You can easily find this unique culinary in small stalls on the side of the road. Bulung in Indonesian is called Seaweed. Apart from fruit, seaweed can also be given pindang sauce which tastes fresh in the mouth. If you are around Kuta you can try Rujak Kuah Pindang or Bulung at the Warung Gula Bali The Joglo. around By-Pass Sunset Road Kuta

7. Serombotan

This typical Klungkung regency culinary serves a mixture of vegetables with spices such as coconut milk which contains a mixture of turmeric, mashed, galangal, shallots, garlic and so on with a combination of peanut sauce and spicy seasonings. You can try the taste of this serombotan vegetable at a bali sugar stall, which I have discussed in the post above.

8. Tipat Bulayag

400/5000This culinary uses processed rice flour and a mixture of Balinese spices that you can find in several restaurants labeled Singaraja in Denpasar and Kuta. Bulayag or Blayag is the name of the tipat which is wrapped in oval-shaped coconut leaves. It’s a bit difficult to actually find this typical dish of Bulelng – Singaraja district. There are two types of broth, thick and liquid.

9. Nasi Jinggo

This rice is almost similar to Nasi Kucing (Cat Rice) from the city of Jogja, besides being delicious this food is known for its relatively cheap price and spicy taste. It’s easy to find Nasi Jinggo on the outskirts of Denpasar or in the Kuta area at night. Usually, Jinggo rice traders will start selling from the afternoon to the evening only.

10. Nasi Tepeng

This food is a typical food from Gianyar Regency whose texture is like porridge with a splash of Balinese spices which is its main attraction. It’s a bit difficult to find this Nasi Tepeng seller, but if you are curious about visiting Gianyar City (Ubud and its surroundings), just stop by the night market in the center of Gianyar City, usually, there will be some Tepeng rice traders in that location.
